Dr Laura Ashe BA, MA, MPhil, PhD
Dr Laura Ashe teaches medieval and early modern literature (650-1550), and Shakespeare.
Her research specialism is the literature, history and culture of the period c.1000-1550, and the multilingual literatures of post-Conquest England, including romance, hagiography and chronicle in English, French, and Latin.
Dr Ashe is the author of Richard II (Penguin Monarchs, 2016), Early Fiction in England (Penguin Classics, 2015), and Fiction and History in England, 1066-1200 (Cambridge University Press, 2007), and numerous articles on chivalry, romance, kingship, saints, and the figure of the hero in the Middle Ages. She is currently writing the new Oxford English Literary History vol. 1: 1000-1350.
